Did you ever think: "wow, that landscape from a plan view would make a great rug”? Well, I did. It all started with paying tribute to some of the works of landscape architect, Roberto Burle Marx and later graduating to incorporating human figures. The process starts with stretching a monk's cloth canvas material tightly on a frame, drawing the inverse of the image on the canvas, and assigning the colors onto the material. Feed the cut-pile tufting machine with your desired yarn fabric, strap on some eye protection, a face mask, some noise-canceling headphones, and have patience. Rug tufting has been one of the most relaxing activities I've pursued since acquiring some additional free time in 2020.
